Highland Park United Methodist Church is the Charter Organization for Boy Scout Troop 13 and Pack 105. The troop has been a part of Highland Park United Methodist Church since 1923 and Pack 105 was organized in 1978. The Troop and Pack are registered under the Jayhawk Area Boy Scout Council, which is headquartered in Topeka.
Troop 13 meets at 7:00 p.m. every Monday evening. The boys are divided into patrols and each patrol elects a leader. Patrol leaders meet regularly with the adult leaders to make sure that plans for the troop activities are complete.
The Troop goes on regular campouts and outings, including the Klondike Derby, summer camp, community service projects, and other District events. They have fundraisers to help scouts with camp expenses. Every February they host a Chili Supper at Highland Park UMC. Profits from the Chili supper are used for operating expense and camping equipment. They also sell popcorn, and fresh Christmas wreaths.
Pack 105 meets as a whole the last Wednesday of the month. Each February they hold a Blue and Gold Banquet to honor the boys and their parents. Dens meet weekly at 7:00p.m. on all the other Wednesdays. The pack participates in the Klondike Derby, Pinewood Derby, summer day camp and popcorn sales.
If you or someone you know is interested in joining scouts, please contact the Church office at 266-6555.
